Vatican City, 13 June 2014 (VIS) –
This morning in the Vatican Apostolic Palace, Pope Francis received
in audience the president of the Dominican Republic, Danilo Medina
Sanchez, who subsequently met with Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro
Parolin, accompanied by Archbishop Dominic Mamberti, secretary for
Relations with States.
During the cordial discussions,
satisfaction was expressed for the good relations between the
Dominican Republic and the Holy See, and emphasis was placed on the
valuable social contribution the Church offers to the country,
especially in the sectors of education, healthcare and charity.
The conversation then turned to various
matters of national and regional interest, in particular the recent
provisions intended to facilitate the process of naturalisation of
immigrants in the Country.
