- Appointed Msgr. - Appointed Fr. Geoffrey Hilton Jarrett of the clergy of the archdiocese of Hobart, Australia, pastor of the parish of the Sacred Heart in New Town, as coadjutor bishop of Lismore (area 28,660, population 421,216, Catholics 100,067, priests 60, religious 172), Australia. The bishop-elect was born in Kyneton, Australia, in 1937 and ordained a priest in 1970.
