(VIS) – Today, the Holy Father appointed Bishop Michele Pennisi as
archbishop of Monreale (area 1,509, population 233,010, Catholics
229,892, priests 134, permanent deacons 7, religious 190), Italy.
Archbishop Pennisi, previously bishop of Piazza Armerina, Italy,
succeeds Archbishop Salvatore Di Cristina, whose resignation from the
pastoral care of the same archdiocese the Holy Father accepted, upon
having reached the age limit.
