- Entrusted the charge of pontifical legate for the solemn dedication of the new cathedral church of Tirana, Albania, to Cardinal Angelo Sodano, secretary of state. The sacred rite will take place on January 26, 2002.

- Appointed as consultors of the Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue: Msgr. Joseph Dinh Duc Dao, Vietnamese, of the International Center of Missionary Activity, Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples; Fr.
