VATICAN CITY, APR 8, 1999 (VIS) - Fr. Ciro Benedettini, vice director of the Holy See Press Office, met informally this morning with journalists to answer several questions relative to the war in Yugoslavia.
He said that, difficulties notwithstanding, the Holy See is committed to finding solutions wherever there are even the smallest openings. He added that the Holy See was aware of the peace mission in Belgrade by Msgr. Vincent Paglia of the Rome-based Sant'Egidio community. He also said that there had been "verbal answers" to the Holy Father's letters to President Bill Clinton and NATO Secretary General Javier Solana.
