- Appointed Msgr. Rafael Leonidas Felipe y Nunez of the clergy of the archdiocese of Santiago de los Caballeros, pastor of Santa Ana parish and pastoral vicar, as bishop of Barahona (area 6,973, population 360,857, Catholics 204,750, priests 23, permanent deacons 1, religious 51), Dominican Republic. The bishop-elect was born in Villa Tapia, Dominican Republic, in 1938 and ordained a priest in 1965. He succeeds Bishop Fabio Mamerto Rivas Santos S.D.B., whose resignation from the pastoral care of the same diocese the Holy Father accepted, in accordance with canon 401, para. 2 of the Code of Canon law.

- Appointed Msgr. Salvatore Giovanni Rinaldi of the clergy of the diocese of Nola, pastor of the parish of "S. Maria delle Grazie," as bishop of Acerra (area 157, population 99,786, Catholics 96,616, priests 48, religious 93), Italy. The bishop-elect was born in Cimitile, Italy, in 1937 and ordained a priest in 1961. He succeeds Bishop Antonio Riboldi I.C. whose resignation from the pastoral care of the same diocese the Holy Father accepted, upon having reached the age limit.
