VATICAN CITY, SEP 9, 2005 (VIS) - The Holy Father today received in separate audiences:

 - Svetozar Marovic, president of Serbia and Montenegro, accompanied by his wife and an entourage.

 - Seven prelates from the Conference of the Mexican Episcopate, on their "ad limina" visit:

    - Archbishop Francisco Robles Ortega of Monterrey, accompanied by Auxiliary Bishops Gustavo Rodriguez Vega and Alfonso Cortes Contreras.

    - Bishop Roberto Octavio Balmori Cinta M.J., of Ciudad Valles.

    - Bishop Antonio Gonzalez Sanchez of Ciudad Victoria.

    - Bishop Ramon Calderon Batres of Linares.

    - Bishop Faustino Armendariz Jimenez of Matamoros.

POPE TO CANONIZE FIVE BLESSEDS IN OCTOBER


VATICAN CITY, SEP 9, 2005 (VIS) - The calendar of liturgical celebrations for the coming months includes the canonization of five Blesseds during the month of October, and the beatification of 26 Servants of God.

  On October 23, closing day of the Eucharistic Synod, the Holy Father will canonize: Blesseds Alberto Hurtado Cruchaga, Jesuit priest, died in 1952; Archbishop Jozef Bilczewski of Lviv of the Latins, died in 1923; Sygmund Gorazdowski, priest, founder of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph, died in 1920; Gaetano Catanoso, priest, founder of the Congregation of the Veronica Sisters of the Holy Countenance, died in 1963; and Felice da Nicosia, of the Friars Minor Capuchin, died in 1787.

  In keeping with what was Church practice until 1971, reintroduced by Benedict XVI, the following beatification ceremonies will not be presided by the Pope:

  In St. Peter's Basilica on October 9, the beatification will take place of Servant of God Bishop Clemens August von Galen of Munster, Germany, cardinal of Holy Roman Church, died in 1946.

  In St. Peter's Basilica on October 29, the following Servants of God will be beatified: Josep Tapies Sirvant and six companions, priests, martyrs, died in 1936; Maria de los Angeles Ginard Martí, professed religious of the Sisters Guardians of the Eucharistic Cult, martyr, died in 1936.

In Vicenza, Italy, on November 6, the beatification will take place of Servant of God Eurosia Fabris, mother, of the Third Order of St. Francis, died in 1932.

  In St. Peter's Basilica on November 13, the following Servants of God will be beatified: Charles de Foucauld, priest, died in 1916; Maria Pia Mastena, foundress of the Institute of Sisters of the Holy Countenance, died in 1951; and Maria Crocifissa Curcio, founder of the Carmelite Missionary Sisters of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, died in 1957.

  In Guadalajara, Mexico, on November 20, the following Mexican martyrs will be beatified: Servants of God Jose Trinidad Rangel, priest; Andres Sola Molist, priest of the Congregation of Missionary Sons of the Immaculate Heart of Mary; Leonardo Pérez, layman, all of whom died in 1927. In the same ceremony the following Mexican Servants of God will also be beatified: Dario Acosta Zurita, priest, martyred 1931; Anacleto Gonzalez Flores and seven companions, martyrs; as well as Jose Sanchez del Rio, lay people, who all lost their lives between 1927 and 1928.
