VATICAN CITY, DEC 3, 2002 (VIS) - The Holy Father's general intention for the month of December is: "That children may be protected and defended against every form of violence by means of the care taken by their families and of adequate social policies, all over the world."

His mission intention is: "That the celebration of the birth of Christ the Savior may help men and women of every culture to have an ever-greater respect for the little ones and the disinherited."
