VATICAN CITY, MAY 3, 2001 (VIS) - The Holy Father:

- Appointed Cardinal Jose Saraiva Martins, prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, as special envoy to the celebration of the 14th National Eucharistic Congress of Brazil, which will take place in Campinas, from July 19 to 22, 2001.

- Separated the Office of Military Ordinary for Portugal from that of Patriarch of Lisbon, appointing Bishop Januario Torgal Mendes Ferreira, auxiliary of the same Ordinariate, as Military Ordinary for Portugal.
