Alfredo Schaffler of the clergy of the diocese of Picos, Brazil, episcopal vicar and pastor of the parish of Christ the King in the archdiocese of Teresina, Brazil, as coadjutor bishop of Parnaiba (area 20,565, population 582,000, Catholics 523,000, priests 29, religious 80), Brazil. The bishop-elect was born in Waidhofen an Ybbs, Austria, in 1941 and ordained a priest in 1968.
