- Bishop Joseph Goupy, emeritus of Blois, France, on April 28 at age 84.
- Archbishop Antonio Li Mabutas, emeritus of Davao, the Philippines, on April 22 at age 77.
- Bishop Johann Bernard Moller of Groningen, Netherlands, on April 26 at age 75.
- Bishop Plinio Pascoli, former auxiliary of Rome, Italy, on April 22 at age 94.
- Bishop Eldon Bernard Schuster, emeritus of Great Falls, on September 4, 1998 at age 87.
