Vatican
City, 12 September 2013 (VIS) – This morning in the Vatican
Apostolic Palace the Holy Father Francis received in audience the
Prime Minister of Thailand, Her Excellency Mrs Yingluck Shinawatra.
The Head of Government then went on to meet with Cardinal Secretary
of State Tarcisio Bertone, S.D.B., who was accompanied by Archbishop
Dominique Mamberti, secretary for Relations with States.
The
colloquial discussions made reference to the good relations between
Thailand and the Holy See, as well as the mutual understanding and
co-operation between the Church and the State, especially in the
fields of education and social welfare.
The
Parties went on to discuss various matters of current international
interest and the political situation in Asia, focusing in particular
on the importance of intercultural and interreligious dialogue for
the promotion of human rights, peace and justice throughout the
region.
