VATICAN CITY, 7 JUL 2010 (VIS) - The Holy Father appointed Msgr. Sebastiao Lima Duarte, vicar general of the diocese of Ze Doca, Brazil, as bishop of Viana (area 26,000, population 607,000, Catholics 487,000, priests 40, religious 45), Brazil. The bishop-elect was born in Carutapera, Brazil in 1964 and ordained a priest in 1991. He succeeds Bishop Xavier Gilles de Maupeou d'Ableiges, whose resignation from the pastoral care of the same diocese the Holy Father accepted, upon having reached the age limit.
