- Appointed Bishop Francisco Moreno Barron, auxiliary of the archdiocese of Morelia, Mexcio, as bishop of Tlaxcala (area 4,060, population 1,064,000, Catholics 996,000, priests 161, permanent deacons 2, religious 274), Mexico.
