- Accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Legazpi, Philippines, presented by Bishop Nestor C. Carino, in accordance with canon 401 para. 2 of the Code of Canon Law.
- Appointed Fr. Rosario Saro Vella S.D.B., pastor and superior of the Salesian community of Bemaneviky, Madagascar, as bishop of Ambanja (area 34,083, population 1,241,000, Catholics 109,217, priests 50, religious 166), Madagascar. The bishop-elect was born in Canicatti, Italy in 1952 and ordained a priest in 1979.
