- Four prelates from the Irish Episcopal Conference, on their "ad limina" visit:
- Bishop William Murphy of Kerry.
- Bishop William Walsh of Killaloe.
- Bishop Donal Brendan Murray of Limerick.
- Bishop William Lee of Waterford and Lismore.
On Saturday, October 21, he received in audience Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, prefect of the Congregation for Bishops.
