- Appointed Bishop Raymond Leo Burke of La Crosse, U.S.A, as metropolitan archbishop of Saint Louis (area 15,451, population 2,100,000, Catholics 555,750, priests 777, permanent deacons 246, religious 2,577), U.S.A. The archbishop-elect was born in 1948 in Richland Center, U.S.A. and was ordained a priest in 1975.

- Accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Lira, Uganda presented by Bishop Joseph Oyanga in accordance with Canon 401, para. 2, of the Code of Canon Law.
