- Appointed Bishop Thomas Kwaku Mensah of Obuasi, Ghana, as a member of the Pontifical Council for Health Care Ministry.

- Appointed Cardinals Jozef Glemp, Edward Egan, Agostino Cacciavillan, Sergio Sebastiani and Walter Kasper as members of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signature.
