- Bishop Jean Badre, emeritus of Bayeux, France, on September 17, at the age of 87.
- Bishop Raymond Alphonse Lucker, emeritus of New Ulm, U.S.A., on September 19, at the age of 74.
- Bishop Adalberto Domingos Marzi, O.F.M. Cap., prelate emeritus of Alto Solimoes, Brazil, on September 15, at the age of 79.
- Archbishop Alfredo Jose Rodriguez Figueroa of Cumana, Venezuela, on September 17, at the age of 68.
