- Bishop Antoine Marie Maanicus C.S.Sp. of Bangassou, Central African Republic, on December 21, 2000, at the age of 76.
- Bishop Gustave Olombe Atelumbu Musilamu, emeritus of Wamba, Democratic Republic of the Congo, on June 5, 2000, at the age of 73.
- Bishop Luis Reynoso Cervantes of Cuernavaca, Mexico, on December 20, 2000 at the age of 74.
- Bishop John Ahern Torpie, emeritus of Cairns, Australia, on December 30, 2000, at the age of 90.
