VATICAN CITY, SEP 5, 2000 (VIS) - Made public today was a Letter by Pope John Paul, written in Latin and dated August 25, to Cardinal Jan Pieter Schotte, C.I.C.M., secretary general of the Synod of Bishops. Cardinal Schotte was appointed on August 26 by the Pope as his special envoy to the September 8 consecration of the cathedral church of the Apostolic Administration of Eastern Siberia in Irkutsk, Russia.
