POPE TO RECEIVE ARAFAT ON SUNDAY

VATICAN CITY, SEP 3, 1999 (VIS) - At midday today Holy See Press Office Director Joaquin Navarro-Valls made the following declaration:

"Yasser Arafat, president of the Palestinian National Authority, will be received by His Holiness John Paul II on Sunday September 5, after the angelus prayer in Castelgandolfo.
"Thereafter Mr. Arafat will also be received by Cardinal Secretary of State Angelo Sodano".
